Door Knobs From Access Residential Hardware

One of the quickest and easiest ways to achieve a cohesive aesthetic for your house is to have uniform door knobs. Access Residential Hardware offers a wide selection of styles and finishes so you can find the perfect hardware for your home.

Types of Door Knobs We Offer: Privacy & Passage

There are many different types of door knobs available on the market today. Some door knobs are for privacy, meaning they can be locked from the inside so people outside cannot get in. Other door knobs are passage door knobs, which can be opened from either side and do not have a locking mechanism.

We off the following types of interior door knobs:

  • Privacy door knobs are typically used for a bedroom or a bathroom. They have a locking mechanism that prevents others from entering the room without a key.

  • Passage door knobs are used in hallways and other areas where privacy is unnecessary. They are unlocked by simply turning the knob and do not require a key.

How to Choose Interior Door Hardware

The amount of door hardware options available to choose from can be overwhelming. How do you know which door knobs would be right for your home? Here are a few things to keep in mind when making your decision:

  • The style of your home: Are you going for a more traditional or modern look?

  • The finish of your door knobs: Do you want something that will stand out or blend in with the rest of the hardware in your home?

  • The function of the door: Is it a door you use often or is it more for decoration? Will it need to be locked for privacy?

  • The budget: How much are you willing to spend on door hardware?

Ensure the Right Fit

You’ll need to know the bore hole diameter, the backset, and the door thickness to make sure you’re selecting the right sized door knob for your door.

  • You can measure the bore hole by measuring across the circular hole at its widest point (the center). The measurement from the top of the hole to the bottom of the hole is the diameter of the bore hole.

  • The backset can be measured by measuring from the edge of the door to the centerline of the bore hole. Most doors typically have a 2 3/8" or 2 3/4" backset.

  • The thickness of the door can be measured using the distance between the left and right edges of the door.

Door Knob FAQs

How do you clean door knobs?

How you clean a door knob depends on the metal and finish of the knob. Generally, do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials on the door knob, as this could damage the finish.

Brass and copper door handles can be cleaned with a salt, vinegar, and flour mixture. Stainless steel doors can be cleaned with mild soap and water. General purpose cleaners can be used on crystal door knobs. Pewter door knobs can actually be cleaned with white cabbage leaves (the leaves help bring out the shine in pewter).

Are your door knobs sold as complete sets?

Yes, Access Residential Hardware sells our interior door knobs as complete sets. This means that your order comes with knobs for both sides of the door, the latch mechanism, and strike plate.

Do I need to specify door handing with door knobs?

Unlike interior door levers, you don’t have to specify between left and right handling for door knobs.
